As NC State’s central office and authoritative source for institutional reporting and analytics, Institutional Strategy and Analysis (ISA) supports the university’s strategic decisions, planning activities, operations, evaluation efforts, and accountability by providing consistent, reliable information and analysis to university leaders, administrators, faculty and staff, students, external stakeholders, and the public.

In carrying out its mission, ISA:
  • Collects, analyzes, interprets, models, and reports information about NC State;
  • Manages institutional strategic planning, including implementation planning and metrics for the university strategic plan;
  • Provides leadership in governance and strategy with respect to the university’s academic and administrative data;
  • Administers, analyzes, supports, and oversees institutional surveys; and
  • Supports, administers, and maintains applicable data structures, applications, and systems.

Essential Job Duties
  • Employee will manage and maintain the Senior Vice Provost’s extensive calendar.
  • Employee must demonstrate good judgment and knowledge of the Institutional Strategy and Analysis (ISA) unit, University organization, the UNC-System and the Policies, Procedures and Guidelines in order to be able to assist and present the Senior Vice Provost thoroughly in the scope, diversity and complexity of the unit’s mission.
  • Employee must be able to interpret and implement policies, procedures, and guidelines as they apply to NC State University and Institutional Strategy and Analysis.
  • Employee should be knowledgeable of processes in working with the Office of the Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost and other administrative units.
  • Employee must be able to anticipate potential problems that could impact the Senior Vice Provost and the office, and be able to propose and facilitate solutions.
  • Employee must be able to independently research information and prepare the Senior Vice Provost for meetings, presentations and travel.
  • Employee will provide administrative support for any committee meetings the Senior Vice Provost chairs or the leadership team chairs. Leadership team will be defined by the Senior Vice Provost. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to, coordinating time and location, compiling and distributing materials for the agenda, and attending and taking meeting minutes for distribution following the meeting to include next steps and action items.
  • Employee serves as representative and liaison between the Senior Vice Provost and their direct reporting staff as well as other campus administration.
  • Employee will help to coordinate ISA events and programs as appropriate, including but not limited to assisting with background research, event planning or preparation, development of communications materials, and staff support during the event.
  • Employee will independently draft email responses and letters for the Senior Vice Provost in accordance with University policies and procedures. Employee will respond to general inquiries on behalf of the Senior Vice Provost.
  • Employee will gather information for reports and presentations creating initial drafts for the Senior Vice Provost.
  • Employee will assist the department leadership team as approved by the Senior Vice Provost.
  • Employee will be expected to participate in coverage for the Provost’s Office front desk as needed for as long as the office remains in Holladay Hall.

Office Management
General office management including but not limited to purchasing and management of office equipment/supplies, as well as contracts the office manages including organization and record keeping of these contracts. Managing travel for the office including creating travel authorizations in the system and reconciling them according to policies. Manage office space to include working with facilities liaison for maintenance of space as well as ordering furniture for space. Work with the Business and HR operations unit as needed for the unit which may include pulling expense reports and other HR/budget items.

Minimum Education and Experience

High School diploma or equivalency and three years of progressively responsible administrative/office management experience; or graduation with an associate’s degree in Secretarial Science, Business Administration, or a related discipline and one year of progressively responsible administrative/office management experience; or bachelor’s degree, preferably in Business Administration or a related discipline; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

  • Calendar experience.
  • Ability to understand and apply the unit and organization mission and strategic goals, the programmatic nature, and the cultural environment.
  • Strong communications skills with multiple levels of audiences using a variety of media tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively on a team among a diverse group of academic and non-academic staff and administrators.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and a high degree of accuracy.
  • Ability to multitask.
  • Provide courteous and professional customer service.
  • Ability to use discretion and exercise judgment.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with a variety of constituents both on and off campus.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Google Suite, Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to learn new software programs and technology.
  • Demonstrated ability to create high level reports.
  • Ability to organize meetings and events.
  • Ability to work remotely.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional experience in higher education.
  • Experience with event planning and execution.
  • Experience in drafting communications and reports.
  • Budget experience in downloading and understanding expense reports.
