CDL Instructor
Job Description
Gogebic Community College seeks candidates for full-time tenure track, faculty position to teach
CDL courses beginning Spring semester 2025. This position reports to the Vice President of
Academic Services and would be located at the Ironwood Campus. We seek a candidate with
excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, someone with the ability to use
technology to enhance teaching and learning, current CDL licenses, and one who possesses
knowledge in the trucking industries practices and FMCSA regulations.
This position offers a unique opportunity for the right candidate to assist our program into a
promising future. The successful candidate should not only have a strong instructional skill-set,
but he or she should also be willing and able to help develop and implement a sustainable future
vision for the program. Knowledge of and ability to pass state and federal certifications and
requirements are needed to be successful in this position.
The starting salary for this position is $51,640.27. The College offers a generous benefits

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Familiarity with course development/curriculum processes.
• Literacy in word-processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software (i.e. Microsoft Office)
desirable.
• Keeping students informed regarding course requirements, evaluation measures, and
attendance policies.
• Posting and maintaining regular office hours.
• Participating in faculty discussions of curriculum, teaching-learning techniques, and teaching
materials.
• Participating regularly in department, instructional, and college meetings and committees.
• Working effectively with other faculty and staff in a rapidly changing team environment.
• Comfortable with autonomy and assuming a leadership role.
Knowledge of/Ability to:
• The ability and know-how to work with students of varying ages and backgrounds.
• An understanding of the community college philosophy and mission.
• Knowledge of FMCSA and state regulations.
• Knowledge of trucking industry practices.
• Knowledge of basic truck maintenance.
Required Qualifications:
• Possession of a Class A CDL unrestricted license.
• Ability to pass all State of Michigan requirements.
• Ability to pass all Federal/FMCSA requirements.
• Minimum of 2 years Prior/verifiable Class A experience.
• Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
• A Bachelor’s Degree from a U.S. Department of Education regionally accredited college or
university.
• Experience teaching at a community college level.
• Ability to use technology to enhance teaching and learning.
• Familiarity with student outcomes assessment.
