The mission of the NC State University Department of Athletics is to prepare student-athletes to compete at the highest level and to inspire them to be leaders now and for the future by providing the best environment to achieve their athletic, academic, and personal aspirations as well as providing support for the professional development of our coaches and staff, all within the role of the greater institutional relationships to the University. This position will serve as Head Coach of the Division 1A Women’s Soccer Team at NC State University that competes within the ACC and NCAA.
Essential Job Duties
The Head Women’s Soccer Coach will be responsible for rebuilding a nationally competitive soccer team. This includes the ability to lead, motivate and communicate with student-athletes, schedule and conduct regular practice sessions as permitted by NCAA rules and regulations; coach student-athletes during scheduled competitions; develop and implement a training program to improve the skills and conditioning level of all active student-athletes; provide tactical data evaluation and advice during practice and competition; and regularly prepare and implement scouting reports for competition. Supervising, mentoring and managing the two assistant coaches as well as support staff assigned to the wrestling program is a part of the day-to-day expectations of the head coach.

- Lead, motivate and develop student-athletes to reach their full potential, academically, athletically and socially, as individuals and as a team.
- Build a Women’s soccer program that annually competes at the highest levels of the ACC and the NCAA.
- Adhere to and enforce all policies and procedures of the Department and University, as well as the rules and regulations of the ACC, the NCAA, and other authorities that legitimately influence the intercollegiate athletics program.
- Oversee the recruitment and selection of elite student-athletes, both academically and athletically. Ensure compliance by staff with NCAA guidelines. Initiate the process for determining academic eligibility and issuing financial aid agreements.
- Monitor the eligibility status and promote the academic progress of student-athletes by working closely with the Academic Support Program for Student-Athletes (ASPSA). Assist in enforcing study hall attendance for freshmen and academically at-risk student-athletes. Demonstrate a commitment to achieving team goals pertaining to the Federal Graduation Rate, Graduation Success Rate and the Academic Performance Rate, the three nationally recognized academic metrics.
- Demonstrate a commitment to the personal development and overall well being of student-athletes, including support for and participation in departmental programming, support services and related initiatives.
- Manage the team’s annual operating budget and partner with the sport supervisor on annual budget requests and capital requests.
- Develop and implement a strategic competition schedule that provides best opportunity for selection to and advancement in the ACC and NCAA Tournament, in conjunction with supervisor.
- Oversee all team travel arrangements and recruiting expenses in accordance with university policies.
- Schedule and conduct regular practice sessions in and out of season, as permitted by NCAA rules and regulations.
- Oversee the training of team members, in conjunction with the assigned strength coach, athletics trainer, team physician, nutritionist, sport psychologist and other support staff to ensure student-athletes are physically and mentally prepared for practice and competition.
- Supervise assistant coaches, director of operations and other sport-specific support staff to ensure their compliance with applicable rules, policies and procedures. Provide orientation, training and remediation as needed. Conduct regular performance evaluations.
- Demonstrate a commitment to the development of a national profile for NC State Women’s Soccer. Participate in clinics, exhibitions and camp activities, as approved, with the goal of engaging the local and regional community.
- Participate in marketing and media activities, to include speaking engagements, television and radio interviews, and press conferences, as approved or requested.
- Assist with approved fund-raising activities, as requested.

Minimum Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree
Other Required Qualifications
- A minimum of five (5) years of collegiate coaching experience or equivalent.
- Knowledge of and commitment to compliance with ACC, NCAA and University guidelines.
- Commitment to creating a team environment where people experience a sense of respect and belonging.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, as well as written and oral communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in related field.
- Demonstrated success as a Women’s Soccer Head Coach
Required License(s) or Certification(s)
- Will be required to pass annual NCAA Coaches certification exam.
Valid NC Driver's License required
