Position Summary           

The Division of Business and Economics (BE) at Morehouse College invites applications for one full time, non-tenure-track Visiting Assistant/Associate Professor in Entrepreneurship, with a secondary emphasis area in Business Policy/Strategy, Management (General), Organizational Behavior, or Analytics. The individual selected will work with the Division Dean to develop co-curricular entrepreneurial programs and initiatives for the Division. Responsibilities will include a 3/2 course workload, student advising, and service to the BE Division. The candidate is also expected to (1) spearhead or assist with co-curricular programming and initiatives related to entrepreneurship that occur throughout the academic year, (2) promote and market the Entrepreneurship minor to AUC students (traditional and nontraditional), and (3) develop strategic partnerships to fund entrepreneurship programs. This is an at-will position.

Required Qualifications 

Minimum Qualifications: A research-based PhD from an AACSB-accredited business school in business, entrepreneurship, management, marketing, or related areas of study and related experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Must be able to qualify as a scholarly academic (per AACSB accreditation) in the field of Entrepreneurship.

 

Preferred Education/Experience

PhD in Business, Management, or Entrepreneurship with 18 graduate hours in entrepreneurship

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities               

Rank: Visiting Assistant Professor or Visiting Associate Professor

Successful applicants MUST demonstrate strong written, verbal, and presentation communication skills, as well as strong Microsoft Word and Excel skills.

 

Physical Demands           

  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time at a computer is required.
  • Must be able to read on a computer as necessary.
  • Ability to walk at a mild pace frequently.

Essential Duties/Responsiblities 

  1. Teach courses in Entrepreneurship and/or Management.
  2. Advise students in management and entrepreneurship
  3. Provide service to the division.
  4. Work with Social Entrepreneurship and Innovation (SENT) Student Venture Incubator Directors to plan programming and events for student entrepreneurs
  5. Plan the SENT Startup Competition.
  6. Participate in the division’s Social Justice and Social Entrepreneurship Symposium and recruit students to partake in student programming at the symposium.
  7. Other duties as assigned by Dean.

BE Co-Curricular Programming and Entrepreneurial Initiatives

  1. Expand and promote the entrepreneurship minor to Morehouse students, the Atlanta University Center (AUC) and the community according to the College and Division’s strategic plan.
  2. Promote awareness of Divisional programs across the AUC, and nationally.
  3. Develop proposal and secure support for a student business incubator in collaboration with Division Dean.
  4. Assist with evaluating the quality of the entrepreneurship minor offered by the Division.
  5. Coordinate and plan speaker series to enhance the Minor.
  6. Mentor entrepreneurship students.
