The Humanities, Communication, and Social Sciences department seeks an adjunct faculty position in Psychology at WCTC. We are seeking dynamic and dedicated adjunct instructors to join our team.
The successful candidate will provide students with a strong foundation in Psychology paired with exceptional teaching skills. The successful candidate will demonstrate the most effective teaching and learning research in lesson planning and content delivery. This candidate will demonstrate collegiality, flexibility, and leadership within the department, school, and college. Under direct supervision of the associate dean, the primary responsibility is providing instruction to students enrolled in a variety of psychology courses. Classes may include (but are not limited to): Psychology of Human Relations, Introduction to Psychology and Developmental Psychology.
Candidate must be able to teach during the WCTC summer session as well as during the fall and spring terms.
Candidate must be able to teach on campus and online.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities (include, but not limited to)
- Deliver high-quality instruction to a range of program students.
- Integrate technology into teaching of course material.
- Contribute to program development, curriculum design, and program assessment.
- Collaborate with a variety of faculty, staff, and students using strong communication and organizational skills.
- Demonstrate a strong foundation in pedagogy.
- Use feedback as a developmental tool for growth around instructional effectiveness and collegiality.
- Effective at teaching in multiple formats (face-to-face, hybrid, internet).
- Maintain positive relationships within the Liberal Arts programs and the various. occupational programs at WCTC.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s in Psychology or a related field.
- At least two years of post-secondary teaching experience required as the lead instructor (not TA work).
- Post-secondary experience in designing, planning, and implementing alternative delivery formats (internet, accelerated, hybrid).
- Experience in CANVAS or similar learning management system.
- Teaching experience, work experience or experience developing curriculum in the area of international or diversity studies (desired).
- Online teaching experience required.
