Job Description
Assist Assistant Director of Financial Aid in administration of District Financial Aid delivery system. Manage campus financial aid activity and supervise campus financial aid specialist staff. This is an on-site position at Scott Community College, Bettendorf, IA .
Bachelor’s degree OR an associate’s degree with a minimum of 5 years of financial aid or directly related work experience required.
Required Qualifications
Must be able to demonstrate accuracy in their work and discretion in handling information. The person must be detail oriented and have the ability to prioritize workload to meet deadlines. The ability to establish effective working relationships with other employees, students and the public is critical.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supervising staff is strongly preferred. Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills are strongly preferred.
Physical Demands
• This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.• Ability to lift up to 20lbs. occasionally, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary.• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.• Ability to operate a motor vehicle to travel to various places for work.
Typical Duties and Responsibilities
1. Supervise SCC Specialists in the Financial Aid Department.
2. Manage financial aid award process and financial aid delivery system at campus level, including verification and loan processing.
3. Work with the District Financial Aid leadership team to plan and conduct regular training sessions for District Financial aid staff and other teams within Student Development.
4. Conduct regular training and onboarding activities for new and existing Financial Aid Specialists.
5. Manage financial aid records, intake and retention as required by regulation and District Policy.
6. Develop internal and external financial aid presentations for faculty, staff, current students, prospective students, and the public.
7. Maintain knowledge of federal and state regulations and District policy and procedure and administer campus financial aid operations in accordance with same.
8. Provide oversight of SCC College Work-Study program and Foundation scholarship records in accordance with federal regulation and District policy.
9. Assist Assistant Director of Financial Aid in preparing statistical reports as required by federal regulations and District policy in a timely and accurate manner as required.
10. Work with the District Financial Aid leadership team to monitor and develop policies and procedures for regulatory compliance.
11. Establish and maintain an effective communications network to inform the Assistant Director of Financial aid of the pertinent developments within the department that have potential or direct impact on the area or on the college.
12. Ability to establish effective relationships across departments including Registration, Advising, the Business Office and TRIO for the development and implementation of effective policies and procedures.
13. Review professional judgment considerations submitted by students and parents. Process according to federal regulations.
14. Assist in the implementation of the Financial Aid Management System.
15. Is committed to providing quality service that meets or exceeds the expectations of internal and external customers.
16. Perform other duties as required by supervisor.
