Montgomery College, Office of Student Affairs, Central Services, has an immediate need for a full-time Student Affairs Office Operations Director. This is a grade 33, exempt non-bargaining position. The normal work schedule is in-person, Monday through Friday, 8:30am – 5:00pm. The Student Affairs Office Operations Director provides leadership support to the Senior VP by overseeing operational and administrative functions of the Senior VP’s office; managing and analyzing the budget; and performing strategic planning. This person manages and oversees institutional, College-wide projects to ensure that the Senior VP’s initiatives, objectives, and priorities are timely carried out in a fiscally sound manner. This position involves overseeing various administrative and operational aspects, with a strong focus on data management, analysis, and reporting. The incumbent creates and carries out strategic communication plans and serves as liaison to internal and external stakeholders to advocate for the College and the Senior VP’s office priorities.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Support and collaborate with the Senior VP and Associate Senior Vice Presidents for Student Affairs to implement initiatives, including maximizing office effectiveness and developing strategies, goals, policies, practices, and projects.
  • Manage, assess and provide updates on projects to ensure attainment of goals and operational excellence.
  • Lead Senior VP administrative staff in managing division events and activities; manage outside consultants; coordinate legal and legislative matters in conjunction with the Associate Senior Vice Presidents for Student Affairs.
  • Oversee and manage budget for Senior VP’s office; conduct analyses and advise the Senior VP and staff on budget and accounting issues.
  • Collect, analyze, and report qualitative and quantitative information for the Senior VP’s office.
  • Provide clear, accessible quantitative and qualitative information for the Senior VP’s office to inform data-driven decision-making.
  • Collaborate with other Student Affairs departments to ensure data integrity.
  • Manage projects to ensure that initiatives, objectives, and priorities of the Senior VP are understood and carried out in a timely and fiscally sound manner.
  • Identify and develop responses and alternatives for the Senior VP’s consideration, conducting thorough and careful analyses of relevant facts, conditions and circumstances.
  • Develop, direct, or coordinate preparation of special reports and documents, including annual and multi-year plans, strategic goals and objectives, status reports, and action plans.
  • Serve as senior staff liaison to internal and external stakeholders to advocate for Senior VP priorities.
  • Attend meetings, conferences, etc. and make informed decisions that are aligned with and support achievement the Senior VP priorities
  • Create, develop, and implement a strategic communication plan in support of Senior VP priorities; manage communications protocol and approval process; write, distribute and curratecommunications to internal and external constituents; draft briefings, speeches and presentations; develop communications for the web/social media.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Considerable knowledge of professional level executive support; knowledge of budget development and management.
  •  Knowledge of strategic and operational planning; knowledge of project management; knowledge of current issues and trends in public higher education.
  • Experience in data collection, analysis, and reporting,
  • Strong oral and written communication and public relations skills, employing diplomacy and tact, and the ability to present complex information effectively,
  • Skill in oral and written communication, employing diplomacy and tact, and skill in public relations.
  • Ability to manage complex and highly sensitive projects; ability to manage multiple priorities, set and adhere to deadlines, and develop various strategic approaches to academic operations; and ability to resolve problems.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Five years of professional experience in senior-level support to the highest level of organization executives (VP, Senior VP, President); strategic and/or operational planning; budget and fiscal management; and project management.
  • The equivalent combination of education, training, certification and/or experience that provides the required knowledge and expertise to perform the essential functions of the job may be considered.
  • Eligible applicants must currently be authorized to work in the United States and not require employer visa sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree
  • Experience using database management tools
  • Experience developing change management strategies and/or utilizing change management tools
  • Experience developing and executing communication plans and strategy
  • Experience leading department, division and/or enterprise-wide initiatives

The hiring range is $83,374  to $114,639 annually. Initial salary placement is based on candidate experience and internal equity.
