Health Information Technology Full-Time Faculty
 
Summary/Objective: The Health Information Technology Instructor will work under the HIT Program Director and at the direction of the Dean of Nursing and Health Sciences, primarily focusing on instructing students in specialized educational programs related to health information technology. They are also responsible for program review, evaluation, and ensuring accreditation standards are met.
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Continuous review, planning, and evaluation of the program for effectiveness and accreditation standards
  • Student advising and participation in college committees
  • Instructing students in classroom and laboratory settings, providing individual instruction as required
  • Interpreting policies and procedures related to service delivery
  • Selecting and using resources compatible with student/program needs
  • Implementing various strategies to meet student needs, including consulting with students, families, and staff
  • Assessing and documenting program objectives
  • Performing other duties as assigned
 
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Knowledge of subject matter being taught
  • Knowledge of educational planning and teaching techniques
  • Familiarity with appropriate learning aids and teaching materials
  • Ability to develop and teach students based on assessments and evaluations
  • Ability to evaluate progress and revise lesson plans as needed
  • Ability to provide advice and guidance regarding student education
 
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in health services, health information, or health administration
  • Must hold an AHIMA credential. (RHIA RHIT)
  • Alternatively, other bachelor’s degrees with demonstrated skills in health information management, or a Medical Doctorate with relevant professional experience
  • Preference given to candidates with community college experience
 
Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods of sitting/desk work.
  • Prolonged periods of standing at times.
  • Prolonged screen time.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
