Overview

The Immune Assessment Laboratory assist investigators at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, its partners and external sites in establishing mechanistic and biomarker endpoints for clinical studies. We provide data generation for clinical trials across multiple disease centers as well as the necessary expertise to design and develop assays related to cancer immunology biomarkers discovery. We are also involved in the collection of blood and solid tissue from patients participating in more than 50 clinical trials at DFCI as well as multiple external sites. Our Lab is equipped with the latest technologies for the detection of soluble biomarkers: Luminex and OLINK, as well as determining cellular phenotypes using mass cytometry (CyToF). We provide researchers with access to the latest innovations in immune monitoring in a GLP quality-controlled, HIPAA compliant setting.

The IAL is an integral member of an NIH Cancer Moonshot initiative, CIMAC (Cancer Immune Monitoring and Analysis Center), providing mass cytometry expertise to NCI clinical trials nationwide.

Responsibilities

  • Isolate immune cells from patient blood samples
  • Participate in all blood banking activities
  • Prepare laboratory reagents and chemicals
  • Manages and maintains database containing experimental results and reagent information and storage locations
  • Prepares and presents written or oral progress reports concerning studies, including assembly, organization, and interpretation of data
  • Maintains detailed notebook of all work-related activities
  • Maintains a clean, orderly work area within the laboratory
  • Maintain equipment and supplies in a neat and orderly manner
  • Undertakes standard decontamination procedures prior to disposal of laboratory materials
  • Maintains established department policies, procedures, and objectives, including the areas of quality assurance, safety, environmental and infection control
  • Performs all other duties and responsibilities required for laboratory operations as directed
  • Our lab is processing clinical samples, which require a very high level of organization and adhesion to clinical SOPs.

  • Bachelor's degree required in Biology or healthcare related science preferred
  • Sterile technique and pipetting knowledge are required
  • Blood handling, and immune cells isolation and purification related techniques is a plus
  • Knowledge of computational data analysis basics is a plus
  • The successful candidate is a team-oriented with exceptional organizational skills
  • Understands lab etiquette and participate in general laboratory responsibilities
  • Must be detail-oriented and strictly adhere to clinical SOPs
