If you answered "Yes", we're looking for someone like you to join our growing Engineering Applications Service Team in the Information Technology Services Department (ITSD) at APL. ITSD is ranked as one of Computerworld's Top Places to Work in IT now for 6 years running!

 

As a DevSecOps Applications Support Engineer, you will play a crucial role in supporting and optimizing the applications our teams rely on for secure, high-quality software development. You’ll provide operational support for our DevSecOps toolchain and collaborate with cross-functional teams to solve technical challenges, all while enhancing your skills in a rapidly evolving field. This role includes the following key responsibilities:

  • Provide Technical Support for DevSecOps Applications
  • Offer day-to-day technical assistance and troubleshooting for tools such as GitLab, Jira, and other DevSecOps platforms
  • Collaborate with developers, security teams, and operations to resolve technical issues and support DevSecOps best practices
  • Manage user access controls, licensing compliance, and ensure smooth tool usage across teams
  • Respond to questions about tool features, functionality, and implementation to promote best practices
  • Monitor and Enhance Toolchain Performance
  • Ensure the reliability, performance, and scalability of supported applications, proactively addressing issues
  • Assist teams in integrating tools into their CI/CD pipelines, working closely with DevOps and IT teams to continuously improve operations
  • Document Processes and Knowledge
  • Maintain and update documentation for system configurations, processes, and troubleshooting guides to promote knowledge-sharing
  • Stay Current and Drive Improvement
  • Stay up to date on emerging technologies, trends, and best practices in DevSecOps
  • Continuously research and propose automations or enhancements to improve tool performance and operational support
  • Attend industry events, training sessions, and conferences to grow your expertise

Qualifications

You'll meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you ...

  • Have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, or a related field
  • Are familiar with DevSecOps processes (e.g., version control, automated testing, CI/CD) and tools like GitLab, Jira, Jenkins, Docker, or similar platforms
  • Are eager to learn and grow in DevSecOps practices
  • Have experience working with programming languages such as Python, Java, C#, SQL, or similar
  • Are able to obtain Secret level security clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.

You'll stand out if you ...

  • Have internship or work experience in a DevSecOps or SRE role, with exposure to tools like GitLab, Jira, Artifactory, Azure DevOps, or Jenkins
  • Have experience in Linux and/or Windows system administration, including basic scripting (e.g., Bash, PowerShell, Python)
  • Understand cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) or ization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes
  • Are knowledgeable about security best practices, integration technologies, or middleware systems
  • Have familiarity with graph databases (Neo4j, GraphQL) and/or software development technology stacks

The referenced pay range is based on JHU APL’s good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level with consideration for internal parity. For salaried employees scheduled to work less than 40 hours per week, annual salary will be prorated based on the number of hours worked. APL may offer bonuses or other forms of compensation per internal policy and/or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be provided in the form of a sign-on bonus, relocation benefits, locality allowance or discretionary payments for exceptional performance. APL provides eligible staff with a comprehensive benefits package including retirement plans, paid time off, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, flexible spending accounts, education assistance, and training and development. Minimum Rate

$85,000 Annually

Maximum Rate

$150,000 Annually
