Job Description
POSTDOCTORAL ASSOCIATE, Political Science - MIT Governance Lab (MIT GOV/LAB), to lead collaborative projects on generative AI and democracy, teach an undergraduate course on Democracy and Generative AI, and lead an undergraduate Social and Ethical Responsibilities of Computing (SERC) reading group. Will provide supervision and guidance to students and researchers while engaging in activities that support the general mission of MIT GOV/LAB and SERC; collaborate with other post docs, SERC scholars, and instructors; 25% contribute to ongoing and new MIT GOV/LAB applied research projects; 30% teach one undergraduate course per year on AI and Democracy (Spring); 20% lead a SERC scholar reading group; and approximately 25% of time allotted for independent research.
Job Requirements:REQUIRED: Ph.D. in Political Science, Public Policy, Sociology or other related social science field; advanced quantitative methods training with expertise in experiments, identification, and causal inference; demonstrated research experience in generative AI, governance, public trust, and other related areas and experience in the practitioner world; proven record of academic excellence, research achievement and publication that contributes to the study of the above areas; attention to detail; self-motivation and ability to work on projects independently; proven ability to handle multiple projects concurrently and meet deadlines; and demonstrated proficiency in statistical software (e.g. Stata/R).
