If so, we 're looking for someone like you to join our team! As a Designated Security Representative (DSR), you will serve as the Research and Exploratory Development (REDD) co-liaison with the JHU / APL Security Services Department and be responsible for ensuring that REDD maintains a strong and proactive security posture, pertaining to industrial security mandates. You will also responsible for providing a wide variety of support services and subject matter expertise with respect to security requirements and guidelines, and the establishment and implementation of procedures and best practices.

 

As a Designated Security Representative, you will...

  1. Be responsible for ensuring that REDD maintains strong adherence to security requirements and guidelines. Continued evaluation of the effectiveness of the department security operations pertaining to industrial security. Provide oversight of the department industrial security to ensure compliance, and to include driving the implementation of new and / or enhanced security practices and procedures needed to meet emerging requirements and resolve security issues. Maintains routine and timely communications with REDD leadership regarding heightened security concerns. 
  2. Provide subject matter expertise in resolving security issues as they arise. Create / maintain a robust department security education program that ensures continuous training and education updates for all classified and unclassified facility managers, Group Security Representatives, and REDD staff and supervisors concerned with security requirements. Advise new staff on security procedures for the laboratory and department, and provide targeted education and training on unique program security requirements. 
  3. Coordinate security violation investigations and classified spill remediation, complete required administrative inquiry reports and ensure the successful execution of any corrective action requirements. This includes the gathering of relevant information, clear and concise documentation of events, and timely submission to APL Security. Proactively follow-up with training and recommended actions to prevent / minimize future incidents. 
  4. Co-lead REDD participation in the annual DSS security inspections and internal APL assessments. Coordinate / respond to security data calls. Additional ad hoc duties as assigned.

Qualifications

You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you...

  • Bachelors’ Degree or 7 years of relevant professional experience in lieu of a degree.
  • A minimum of 2+ years of related professional experience in a security-related role.
  • A working knowledge of DoD security processes and NISPOM requirements.
  • Experienced in the development, coordination and implementation of security training and awareness programs.
  • Highly organized and process-oriented.
  • Demonstrated ability to expedite, multitask, and prioritize while delivering high-quality products and services.
  • Demonstrated initiative for leading / participating in activities outside of normal duties.
  • Strong analysis capability demonstrated through tasking to independently analyze, summarize and make recommendations on process, procedures, and project-related activities.
  • Committed team player with solid / excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with all levels of staff and sector management.
  • Professional Security certifications such as DSS FSO or ability to obtain within six months of hire.
  • Hold an active Secret security clearance with the ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.

  • Working knowledge of FSO responsibilities as outlined in the NISPOM.
  • Professional Security certifications such as DSS ISSM, CISSP, CISM, Security+.
  • Knowledge of JHU/APL practices and procedures and highly developed analytical skills in a technical environment.

The referenced pay range is based on JHU APL’s good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level with consideration for internal parity. For salaried employees scheduled to work less than 40 hours per week, annual salary will be prorated based on the number of hours worked. APL may offer bonuses or other forms of compensation per internal policy and/or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be provided in the form of a sign-on bonus, relocation benefits, locality allowance or discretionary payments for exceptional performance. APL provides eligible staff with a comprehensive benefits package including retirement plans, paid time off, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, flexible spending accounts, education assistance, and training and development. Minimum Rate

$54,700 Annually

Maximum Rate

$175,000 Annually
