Job Summary
The Tenuta Lab at the University of Michigan seeks exceptional applicants to join a vibrant research program focusing on developing new generation therapies for dental caries. Strong focus on biofilm microbial composition, physiology and structure, and on relations between therapies and the dental biofilm are key elements of the ongoing research projects. Study models span from in vitro biofilm models of different levels of complexity, to investigate interaction between therapies (ex. nanomaterials) and dental biofilms, to animal models testing the developed therapies under in vivo conditions. The main responsibility of the Fellow will be to advance research projects with guidance from the PI and collaboration with other lab members.
The PI is devoted to work with the Fellow and support their career development. Successful candidates will participate in a program that includes research and career mentoring, manuscript and grant writing, and scientific presentations at national/international meetings. The successful Fellow will be offered a 1-year appointment (renewable up to 4 years) based on their performance, research, and professional accomplishments, and will have the opportunity to attend relevant training workshops across the campus, and co-advise students if appropriate to the project. The appointment will be 100% research. There might also be opportunities to engage in teaching and lecture development, depending on the Fellow's interests.
Required Qualifications*
A PhD or equivalent degree and research experience on microbiology and animal models.
Desired Qualifications*
Research experience in nanomaterials and biofilm imaging is desirable. Preference will be given to candidates who have demonstrated strong writing capabilities and a record of work integrating
knowledge across fields. Candidates should have interest in being part of a collaborative scientific team.

This position is located at the School of Dentistry in Ann Arbor, MI 48109-1078.
Additional Information
The position is with the Tenuta Lab in the Department of Cariology, Restorative Sciences and Endodontics, School of Dentistry, University of Michigan. Compensation and benefits commensurate
with qualification and experience.
