Full Job Description
Fayetteville Technical Community College is seeking qualified applicants for this critical, full-time position. The Associate Vice President for Instructional Programs will assist the Senior Vice President for Academic and Student Services with the development, implementation, and evaluation of educational and workforce programs that align with the labor market’s demands and the college’s strategic goals; coordinating the academic planning and program review processes with academic administrators and faculty; ensures short-term workforce and curriculum programs align to labor market needs, and serves as the initial contact for student, faculty, and staff complaints. Additional responsibilities of this position include: ensuring curricular programs comply with College standards, policies, and procedures; supervising and providing quality customer service to academic and administrative staff; coordinating assigned activities with other College divisions and departments; and providing highly responsive assistance to the Senior Vice President for Academic and Student Services in academic, community, and strategic initiatives of the College.

Duties
Essential Duties—Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Assists the Senior Vice President for Academic and Student Services and academic deans in developing, planning, implementing, and administering academic and strategic goals, objectives, procedures, and key performance measures necessary to provide curricular programs and services to College students; develop for approval new or modified programs, systems, and procedures. Recommend new policies, interpret and implement existing curriculum policies.
- Leads the curriculum division in the on-going process of continuous improvement using annual assessment data to enhance student success and meet institutional goals.
- Monitors the implementation of action plans identified by faculty and staff and hold the academic deans accountable for meeting performance targets and compliance reporting.
- Provides input for the Strategic Plan, including assessing academic needs for personnel, equipment, and facilities. Assists the academic programs with understanding and executing components of the strategic plan that apply to their program or service area.
- Monitors, oversees, and coordinates the development and maintenance of academic standards related to all curricular courses and programs; ensure that courses and programs comply with College policies, procedures, goals, and objectives.
- Ensures that programs comply with state, regional, or national standards as applicable.
- Fosters strong relationships with corporate partners to enhance student experiences, employability and professional growth and to ensure workforce programs are well aligned to labor market needs.
- Participates in the development and administration of annual academic division budget; forecast funds needed for staffing, equipment, materials, and supplies; monitor and approve expenditures.
- Assists in the development and review of specifications for renovations and design of new buildings consistent with academic needs and requirements, and in effective utilization of existing classroom and lab space and courses.
- Coordinates educational and career activities across academic units and departments and with external partners and stakeholders to increase relevance in the learning processes with organizations.
- Participates in the self-study process for each curriculum program seeking approval, reapproval, accreditation, or reaccreditation.
- Consults with and provides staff assistance and advice to the Senior Vice President for Academic and Student Services; develops, prepares, and presents recommendations and reports as requested.
- Reviews the Academic Program Review (PR) process. Ensures the APR process contains appropriate documentation in each report to support findings and recommendations. Monitors to ensure action plans are being implemented and outcomes are documented for use in accreditation and program self-studies. Monitors responses to recommendations and correlate PRs with the Strategic Planning Process.
- Supervises, trains, motivates, and evaluates faculty and staff; establishes and monitors employee performance objectives; prepare and present employee performance reviews; provides or coordinates instructional training to full-time and adjunct faculty in conjunction with the Center for Faculty Development.
- Counsels and advises both staff, faculty, and students on a variety of academic and administrative matters; assesses student standing and needs; suggests alternative courses of action; settles student, faculty, and staff grievances.
- Serves on a variety of committees and task forces; researches and develops recommendations based on evidenced based practices related to both the academic and administrative affairs of the College.
- Oversees and coordinates the operations of the curriculum instruction department; monitors and evaluates workload; evaluates and recommends policies; develops and establishes procedures.
- Participates in the marketing of the College to the community; make presentations to the community, schools, service organizations and corporate contacts as appropriate.
- Represents the College at community and outside organizational functions.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
A Master’s degree in education, business administration, or a related field from an accredited college or university with five years of increasingly responsible experience in the development and administration of academic programs in a college, university, governmental or corporate setting.
Demonstrated experience managing assessment processes in higher education to improve student success.
