Position Summary/Purpose of Position:
The program coordinator, cultural programming and engagement will develop and execute cultural programming and events to enhance campus community members’ appreciation for diverse experiences. This position will implement and manage event concepts and programming, including registration, budgeting, and program logistics. The program coordinator will development of an approach to building outreach and engagement, in collaboration with the director. The program coordinator will mentor and supervisor minors participating in the Camp Shule. This position will also support the center’s day-to-day operations, define and assess programming, and coordinate marketing and social media efforts. The program coordinator will ensure the successful implementation of various cultural programming and work with various stakeholders (e.g.,. Office of Risk Management, Public Safety, Office of the Registrar) to executed the program. The following is a list of annual programming, but not limited to: NewsBreak, Juke Joint, Miss Unity Scholarship Pageant, Kwanzaa Celebration, Maryland Gospel Choir Concerts, Black History Kick-off and Closing Ceremony, Student Awards Ceremony, BHM Talent Showcase Reception, Black Graduation Ceremony and Reception, Student Welcome, Homecoming Tailgate, and Camp Shule. *Please note that semester annual programming may be in person, virtual, or a hybrid of both.
Two program coordinator, cultural programming and engagement positions are available. One position will report to the director and the other position will report to the associate director.

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
Experience:
Three (3) years of experience in project or programming management.
- Working knowledge of information technology applications.
- Ability to make effective and timely decisions.
- Intermediate to advanced user of Microsoft Office Suite (i.e., Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Access).
- Intermediate user of GSuite and Adobe Acrobat.
- Ability and desire to stay current on best practices in administration of programming, services, and processes.
- Excellent communication skills including writing, editing, and speaking.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and time management skills.
- Ability to organize and interpret information and data.
- Ability to manage projects and events under competing deadlines and priorities.
- Knowledge of simple negotiations, marking and communication strategy, budget and fiscal management.
- Ability to work cooperatively with others and demonstrates professional, ethical, respectful, and courteous behavior when interacting with others.
Preferences:
- University experience is preferred.
- Availability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
- Passion for supporting marginalized and historically underrepresented student populations and community members.
- Excellent public speaking and presentation skills.
- Ability to manage projects and events under competing deadlines and priorities.
- Ability to work with a wide diversity of stakeholders (internal and external).
Additional Information:
- There are two positions available.
- Salary range is $61,600 – $70,000.
- Candidates must be able to provide proof of eligibility to work in the USA. No visa sponsorship is offered for this position.
Additional Background Check:
Child Protective Services (CPS) background clearance form must be completed for staff members working in a facility where a youth/summer camp is hosted. Md. FAMILY LAW Code Ann. § 5-560 requires a fingerprint background check (i.e., Child Protective Services (CPS) background clearance form) for this position. Information reported by the background check will not automatically disqualify someone from employment.
