Budget Analyst - Student Services

Job Description

We are currently seeking a Budget Analyst who will advance the institution’s proud tradition of excellence in academics, student life and community service.

The Opportunity

You: An analyst with solid working knowledge of accounting principles and college purchasing, and a desire to join a great team.

Your mission: Provide support for all accounting, financial analysis and financial reporting requirements for the college.

A typical day: Whether you’re analyzing budgets, interacting with personnel from vendors to Accounts Payable to the College Operations Officer, compiling and analyzing financial information we promise to keep you busy and challenged as you support financial operations so HCC can do the good work they do for students.

Job Summary

The Budget Analyst provides analytical support for all accounting, financial analysis, and financial reporting requirements for the College. Assists in preparation of operational budgets for departments, and reviews expenditures to ensure conformance with budgetary provisions.

Essential Functions

Work with the assigned area and other budget authorities to reconcile annual budget.

Monitor all college budgets for budgets exceeding allocated amounts.

Analyze requisitions for accurate descriptions, extensions, totals, and verify funds availability.

Responsible for reviewing operating budgets periodically in order to analyze trends affecting budget needs.

Prepare monthly report of purchasing activities consisting of number of orders placed, total amount expended per month, and a breakdown of orders by Department.

Check and verify invoices for payment.

Interact with vendors and department personnel regarding orders, requisitions, and deliveries.

Work with Accounts Payable Department to ensure timely processing of vendor payments.

Analyze financial information and prepare reports to summarize current and projected financial position of the College.

Enforce compliance with operational policies and procedures.

Post budget adjustments within information management system.

Perform other duties, tasks and assignments as required.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree required

• 3 years of work-related experience required

General Office. Must be able to perform all job requirements with or without reasonable accommodations; remain in a stationary position during shift; move items weighing up to 25 pounds; position self to operate job equipment; apply established protocols in a timely manner.
