Job Description:

The Deputy Chief Diversity Officer/ Deputy Title IX Coordinator will work closely with and report to the Associate Dean-CC (Community Services & Corporate Education)/Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer (CDO) to implement best practices related to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB). In collaboration with the CDO, the incumbent will cultivate and promote inclusive work and learning environments that encourage and support cultural competency and capacity such as, campus wide DEIB training, Affirmative Action training, multicultural appreciation events and advocacy for faculty, staff, student and/or alumni affinity groups.  The position will also serve as the Deputy Title IX Coordinator and facilitate and support campus wide efforts, including advocacy and education, training, investigations, daily administrative oversight, collaboration with designated co-investigators, and compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and best practices. 

The mission of the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion is to provide campus-wide leadership and support on matters relating to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging for all members of the SUNY Westchester Community. The DEI Office supports the College's efforts to ensure that students, faculty, and staff learn and work in environments that actively promote a culture of inclusive excellence.


Requirements:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:  The successful candidate must possess a Master's Degree in Higher Education Administration, Social Science, Social work, Organizational change, Counseling or Diversity, Equity, and/or inclusion studies and three years' experience in either (a) an investigator/administrator in student conduct, an investigator/administrator in Title IX, Title IX Consultant/Legal Representative, or in EEO/AA and diversity areas in the field of education, educational administration and/or (b) engaged in research related to anti-racism, diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEIB) initiatives in the field of education, educational administration and/or (c) a satisfactory combination of equivalent training and experience.

The successful candidate will have experience with student conduct and/or Title IX process, including intake, resources, investigation, supporting community needs, etc.  All candidates must have evidence of responsiveness to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students and evidence of equity-minded practice in all college policies, practices, and personnel.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: It is preferred that the candidate possess:

  • PhD, EdD or Law Degree;
  • At least four years of professional work, research, teaching and/or experience in the field of diversity and inclusion, social justice advocacy and education, student development, student advising, student organization advising, and/or campus-wide programming;
  • At least four years of experience in addressing Title IX, bias reports, conflict resolution and/or mediation;
  • At least four years of experience leading diversity and inclusion related initiatives and programs;
  • At least four years of experience working in Higher Education;
  • Experience working with nonprofits and/or local/federal government;
  • Experience working in nonprofits and/or local/federal government.


Additional Information:

POSITION EFFECTIVE:   The position will remain open until filled.

WORK SCHEDULE: The work schedule is Monday through Friday from 9:00 am - 5:00 pm.  Evening and weekend hours may be required on a limited basis.                  

SALARY & BENEFITS: The starting salary is $102,151.  Additional compensation with seniority steps maximize at a salary of $157,702.  Benefits include comprehensive health coverage, a choice of defined benefit and/or defined contribution pension plan, generous leave benefits, and access to tax sheltered annuities and a deferred compensation plan.
