Position Summary/Purpose of Position:
The Department of Cell Biology and Molecular Genetics of the University of Maryland seeks a full-time, Professional-track (non-tenure) faculty Lecturer/Instructor to contribute to the undergraduate microbiology curriculum. The position begins on January 2, 2025. The appointee will primarily be responsible for the teaching and general administration of a new 200-level introductory microbiology course as well as teaching a 100-level course in Principles of Molecular and Cellular Biology. The appointee will also work as a member of the department’s academic advising team. This is a 9-month position with opportunities for appointments to summer teaching and/or additional administrative duties. - A Ph.D. with demonstrated teaching and research in microbiology or molecular biology.
- Previous experience in microbiology, lab coordination and teaching assistant training is preferred.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills as well as an interest in topics relevant to pedagogy and pedagogical research are desired.
