FUNCTION & SCOPE:
The Human Resource Business Partner (HRBP) is the primary point of contact for UCAWD employees, supervisors, and senior management on a variety of HR activities pertaining to recruitment, employee relations, HR/Payroll, time reporting, appointment changes, and benefits. This position is a key member of the Finance and Administration team and serves as the primary liaison with the Research Foundation's Sponsored Programs Office and SUNY System Administration on all HR issues throughout the employee lifecycle.
DUTIES:
The HRBP will provide support and implement solutions on a variety of HR issues. This position will guide and manage the overall provisions of HR services, policies, and programs, including:
- Recruitment- Overseeing the recruitment process, working with management to determine staffing needs and implementing creative solutions to ensure high visibility of vacant positions. Use traditional and non-traditional resources to identify and attract quality candidates. Coordinate interviews with Search Committee Chairs and participate on search committees, as requested.
- Onboarding- Completing onboarding paperwork, departmental orientation, and coordinating benefits orientation for both UCAWD Central Office and field staff.
- Compensation- Responsible for implementation of the approved annual RF Salary plan, while overseeing the annual employee evaluation and appraisal processes.
- Learning & Development- Coordinate and facilitate training for staff (i.e., Supervisory, Search Committee Chairs). Participating in evaluation and monitoring of training programs. Providing leadership and guidance to the UCAWD Professional Development Committee to identify and address learning and development needs.
- Time and Attendance- Addressing employee timecard actions and troubleshoot any issues/questions related to time and attendance, including coordination of leave-related inquiries, and involving others, as needed.
- Employee Relations- Work closely with management and employees to improve working relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention. Conduct regular meetings with respective UCAWD units (Programs and Services, Finance and Administration, and IT) to discuss current HR issues. Work closely with RF and SUNY HR departments on all employee relations issues. Provide guidance on workplace complaints, performance counseling, or other employee issues and collaborate, as needed, to ensure resolution.
- Process Improvement- Identify solutions to improve HR administration and procedures as they relate to programs. Working to streamline processes, seeking guidance when necessary.
- Leadership- Responsible for supervision of the HR & Finance Assistant.
- Offboarding- Managing employee separations, including exit interviews, sending separation letters, communicating/collaborating with key stakeholders.
SKILLS:
- Ability to perform multiple tasks and managing complex projects in a fast-paced team environment
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Ability to exercise independent judgment
- Ability to exercise discretion in the handling of confidential and/or sensitive information
- Strong knowledge of various software packages
- Ability to create and maintain a culture of diversity, inclusivity, collaboration, and teamwork
Requirements:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in a related discipline
- Three years of progressively responsible HR experience
- Comprehensive knowledge of state and federal regulations One year of supervisory experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master's degree in a related discipline
- Professional certification in Human Resources (PHR/SPHR) or SHRM Certified Professional (CP/SCP)
- Experience working with culturally diverse populations
Additional Information:
The compensation for this role is $70,000 - $80,000 (targeting mid-70s)
