Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Post-Doctoral Fellow for NJMS- Infectious Diseases. Under direction of a faculty member, performs technical research activities within a laboratory; assists in the conduct of highly specialized and technical research.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Conducts human immunology experiments and analysis of acquired data.
  • Performs analysis of large immunology and gene expression datasets.
  • Works under minimal supervision and contributes to experimental design.
  • Prepares manuscripts for publication of data generated.
  • Conducts part of the research work in collaborating laboratories at international sites.
  • Assists in training graduate students and technicians and performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Drafts biosafety protocols and amendments.
  • Demonstrates perfect compliance with BSL3 rules and guidelines

  • Doctoral Degree in relevant science.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

 
Preferred Qualifications
  • Preferred experience includes comprehensive knowledge of the basics of cellular and molecular immunology, independent design and performance of immunology experiments such as FLOW cytometry and confocal microscopy, experience in human PBMC analysis, analysis of large datasets, performing unsupervised work in the BSLIII with M. tuberculosis.

Physical Demands and Work Environment
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This position involves prolonged standing, walking and sitting, as well as use of laboratory equipment. Must perform complex procedures and demonstrate manual dexterity. Some stooping, reaching, climbing and bending. Occasional lifting of 20 pounds to a height of 6½ feet. Hearing and speech capabilities necessary to communicate with other researchers and staff in person, on the telephone and by e-mail. Vision capable of viewing gauges, computer monitors, charts, forms, text and numbers for prolonged periods.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Must be available to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays when necessary to meet deadlines. Must be willing to work with small animals.
