Our client is a long standing not-for-profit organization serving 900 individuals with disabilities across three counties in Upstate NY, with over 300 employees in multiple locations. Comprised of a dedicated team and Board of Directors, a powerful mission and vision, and an active partnership within the local community, it continues to strengthen its programs, services, and impact.
We are identifying candidates for its next President/CEO, who will provide strategic leadership, operational and program management, financial stewardship, risk management, communication, quality, compliance and innovation and adaptability as the world of OPWDD continues to evolve.
This role reports to the Board of Directors and is always expected to serve as an ambassador of the organization by demonstrating professional ethics and adherence to professional standards of quality.
A true passion for the mission combined with an appreciation for the core values and long-term goals of the organization is essential. You must be able to think and act operationally and strategically, anticipate challenges, and execute plans effectively, to fulfill the mission and vision consistently.
A leadership vision that incorporates sound business acumen and a commitment to nurturing, growing, and protecting the organization is critical.
It is extremely important to promote and foster a cohesive and unified team atmosphere. In the short term, we are looking for someone to focus on learning and collaboration, with the goals of recognizing everyone’s contributions and potential, continuing to make positive changes, and recruiting and retaining a workforce with your same passion.
Equally important is the ability to acknowledge and respond to the challenges of employees who work varied shifts, who support a population requiring a high level of sensitivity, empathy, focus, and confidentiality.
QUALIFICATIONS
-Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Business Management, Finance, Social Sciences, or related field. Master’s Degree preferred.
-10+ years progressive experience in a senior leadership role in a not-for-profit, with a deep understanding of the dynamics and how to lead accordingly
-Deep experience supporting Individuals with Developmental Disabilities (IDD) within a Human Services agency, and working/collaborating with OPWDD standards, expectations, and guidelines highly preferred
-Prior experience working in an organization with a unionized workforce, and a Collective Bargaining Agreement is highly preferred.
-Exceptional planning and coordination skills; excellent decision-making and problem-solving skills
-Excellent oral and written communication skills; comfortable with public speaking and delivering formal presentations
-Ability to exercise discretion in handling confidential information and exercise sound judgment
-Ability to analyze and determine the applicability of financial data to draw conclusions and make recommendations
