Essential Job Duties

This is an entry-level, professional Investigative auditing position. The Investigative Auditor focuses primarily on performing investigative audits and advisory/consulting engagements in accordance with the Internal Audit Division’s (IAD) Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), the Association of Certified Fraud Examiner’s Standards, and the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) Standards (the “Red Book’’ Standards). Engagements may sometimes be integrated, entailing a combination of operational, IT, compliance, and/or financial elements.
This is an entry-level, professional Investigative auditing position. The Investigative Auditor focuses primarily on performing investigative audits and advisory/consulting engagements in accordance with the Internal Audit Division’s (IAD) Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), the Association of Certified Fraud Examiner’s Standards, and the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) Standards (the “Red Book’’ Standards). Engagements may sometimes be integrated, entailing a combination of operational, IT, compliance, and/or financial elements.
There is no cyclical work performed; all engagements are risk-based and performed in a fast-paced, agile environment.
The successful candidate will be able to apply investigative auditing principles, practices and standards to a range of business operations, financial transactions, IT applications, and academic systems. Additional expectations are that the incumbent will need to draw accurate conclusions from a variety of complex data and preparation and/or presentation of audit issues and other reports in a concise, non-technical way so as to be understood by non-technical stakeholders.

Minimum Education and Experience
Requires post-baccalaureate credentials; a bachelor’s degree plus 0-2 years experience may be substituted for the advanced degree on an exceptional basis.
Other Required Qualifications
This position requires basic entry level audit and risk management knowledge, skills and experience. Additional skills are as follows:
Technical Skills:
- Meticulous attention to detail for precise and thorough documentation supporting conclusions
- Knowledge and application of the theories, principles and practices of auditing, investigation, accounting, business operations, related IT general controls, and statutory requirements of specific programs and related information technology
- Understanding of common fraud schemes and fraud risk assessment and prevention.
Interpersonal Skills:
- Strong communication skills, ability to present recommendations tailored to various audiences on specific situations.
- Demonstrates critical thinking to recognize problems, risks and provides creative problem resolution concepts
- Proven ability to build strong, collaborative relationships
Preferred Qualifications
- Internship experience is acceptable
- Certification is a plus (eg, CFE, CIA)
