Family Health Centers of San Diego (FHCSD) is currently recruiting for an Outpatient Orthopedic Physical Therapist to provide care for an adolescent to adult caseload from 11 years old and up.
This is an exciting opportunity for PTs who are interested in joining a multidisciplinary care team that includes primary care physicians, sports medicine providers, chiropractors, mental health providers, and physical therapists, working together to support our unique patient population.
In addition to providing the highest quality medical care to San Diego's medically underserved patient population, enjoy opportunities to work with growing programs focused on Childhood and Adult Obesity, Long Covid, Pelvic Floor, Vestibular Rehab, and Clinical Education. Responsibilities:
- Communicates with patients and/or parents/caregivers regarding evaluation results, treatment plan and goals. Provides home program activities to patients and/or parents/caregivers to ensure carryover to the home environment. Engages patients and/or parents/caregivers in treatment sessions.
- Completes all required documentation accurately, in a timely manner, and thoroughly in accordance with department standards; in addition, documentation complies with patients' insurance requirements.
- Consults with Physicians, allied health professionals, and other team members. Participates in case conferencing meeting and in program planning meetings. Facilitates training and presentations for staff, patients, and parents/caregivers when applicable.
- Evaluates patients referred for physical therapy and physical therapy consultation.
- Performs evaluation according to each patient's needs, physician recommendations, and specific program guidelines/protocols.
- Communicates regularly with Referral, Case Management, Care Coordination, and Scheduling staff. Makes recommendations and follows through with referrals when appropriate.
- Provides appropriate oversight and supervision of Physical Therapy Assistants as necessary. Ensures that services being provided by the Physical Therapy Assistants are safe, effective, and efficient. Determines when expertise and decision-making capability of the Physical Therapy Assistants requires that the Physical Therapist personally renders physical therapy interventions and when it may be appropriate to utilize the Physical Therapy Assistant.
- Provides treatment to assigned patients as appropriate in accordance with established standards of care and practice. Designs an appropriate and effective treatment plan and work within scope of practice at all times. Monitors progress of treatment goals through periodic observations and assessments. Conducts re-evaluations when indicated.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- California State licensure as a Physical Therapist.
- Current American Heart Association healthcare provider CPR (BLS), or Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Advanced Trauma Life Support, or Advance Resuscitation Training.
- At least 2 years' experience as a Physical Therapist preferred.
- Ability to perform patient evaluations, synthesize patient information and determine whether the problems to be addressed are within the scope of practice for a PT.

In the spirit of pay transparency, we are excited to share the base range for this position, exclusive of fringe benefits or potential bonuses.
$90,000.00 - $107,000.00If you are hired at Family Health Centers of San Diego, your final base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, jurisdictional requirements, skills, education, and/or experience. In addition to these factors - we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as a part of any final offer. Please keep in mind that the range mentioned above is what we reasonably expect to pay for the role. Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical in order to allow for future and continued salary growth.
