Job Function

Provide leadership in the planning, development, continuous improvement and administration for the student success coach program and student engagement programs in a manner that is consistent with the college’s mission, vision and values to support recruitment, retention, academic progress and student programming.

Job Responsibilities

 

  • Provide leadership for the management, operations and promotion of the student success coach program and student life and leadership office.
  • Provide leadership and advocacy to ensure that coaches and managers have necessary technology and tools for tracking student progress and managing student caseloads.
  • Provide leadership in the onboarding, training and development of success coaches, managers, student life and leadership office staff and support staff.
  • Provide leadership to the success coaches/manager to create, implement and maintain a student caseload model in collaboration with counseling and academic advising services.
  • Provide leadership in the tracking of student success to ensure that effective systems and procedures are developed, implemented and maintained, by providing information about academic and non-academic support offered by the college.
  • Evaluate, direct and coach staff relative to work assignments to ensure alignment with the strategic direction of the college and the student services unit.
  • Develop and manage a process to extract data for reporting and quality improvement management.
  • Responsible for coordinating strategic planning associated with the student success coach program and student life and leadership office in collaboration with key stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with college leadership to promote retention strategies and student engagement services as directed.
  • Develop relationships and build partnerships with internal and external constituents in support of academic success and student programming.
  • Identify and promote interventions, strategies and programming to support students throughout the student life cycle at the college until the educational goal is accomplished.
  • Coordinate issue resolution in collaboration with admissions, counseling and academic advising services, financial services, records/registration, and academic departments to assist students.
  • Coordinate events with cross-functional areas as needed for promoting the student success coach program and student engagement activities.
  • Develop and establish student success/engagement objectives and related policies and procedures.
  • Regularly create, audit and update reports, policies and procedures associated with student success and student programming services.
  • Work collaboratively to integrate student engagement activities with student success initiatives, aligning efforts in retention with student activities/athletics.
  • Assist Director and/or Dean to provide for and assess the effectiveness of continuum of integrated student success practices ensuring responsiveness to changing student populations and needs.
  • Attend local, regional and state conferences/workshops to explore trends and best practices that enhance student engagement to support retention programs.
  • Coordinate, manage and evaluate department budget
  • Collaborate with other departments on special projects and assignments as directed.
  • Supervises assigned employees within the student success coach program and student life and leadership office, participates in the selection of personnel, schedules, and assigns work, ensures proper staffing levels and workloads; directs, evaluates, and trains assigned personnel in a team environment.
  • Serves on college committees as assigned.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Education

Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education required. Concentration of study in student affairs/services, higher education leadership or related field preferred

Qualifications

A minimum of three years management and/or administrator experience overseeing multiple areas within an accredited community college, senior college or university. Experience of working in activities related to the position such as knowledge of case management models, student success practices as it pertains to retention/persistence, student coaching and student programming taking into consideration the sensitivity of multi-cultural, diverse environments of college students from diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds. Must have a working knowledge and understanding of best practices related to retention, intervention strategies, success trends and student programming to support students in attainment of an educational goal.
