Duties and Tasks: Instruction of a range of mathematics courses, including developmental and credit level courses. Additional responsibilities include committee work and academic advising. Candidate should be available to teach at off-campus locations and during the day, evening, or weekends. This position is pending funding availability.
Essential Functions: As a part of this primary responsibility, the College expects each faculty member to: meet assigned classes regularly; submit required records and reports routinely; teach the prescribed courses of study with the established texts; conduct requisite student conferences; hold required office hours; attend to assigned divisional and College duties; contribute to the development of the program of instruction; adhere to the statement on professional ethics in accordance with College policies, procedures, and regulations. Maintain current competence in the particular discipline or field of specialization and advise students.
Employees must reside in Virginia, Maryland, or the District of Columbia.
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.

- Experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at NOVA.
- Ability to be flexible to work at any of the College’s locations.
- Ability to teach a combination of day, evening, weekend, and online classes
- The ability to use technology to enhance teaching.
- Master’s degree in Mathematics or Master’s degree with a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in Mathematics coursework.
- Qualifying degrees and coursework must have been awarded by and/or completed with a regionally accredited institution.
- Prior teaching experience.
- Experience teaching developmental mathematics courses and college credit mathematics.
- Some community college or university teaching experience is preferred.
- Experience teaching hybrid and/or online courses, and mathematics courses of varying levels of proficiency.
- Experience using software packages such as MyMathLab, ALEKS, or WebAssign.
- Demonstrated proficiency and experience in using instructional technologies and learning management systems (e.g. Blackboard or Canvas)
