20-25 Hours | Flexible schedule to meet department needs, including mostly evening hours.

In this position you will assist with the daily operation of the biology laboratory facilities, particularly support of evening laboratory classes.

• Prepare and replenish supplies, media, and equipment needed for experiments
• Maintain clean and functional laboratories.
• Understand the operation of equipment and laboratory techniques used within the department
• Assist the instructors when utilizing special equipment or replacing equipment for students during laboratory sessions
• Instruct users on the correct procedure for operating laboratory equipment
• Provide access to the labs for open lab
• Maintain live animals, plants, and stock in microbiological cultures
• Monitor security and safety of prep rooms and laboratories, including storage and use of hazardous chemicals and potentially pathogenic bacteria and fungi
• Maintain cadavers during periods of non-instruction
• Uphold all health and safety regulations related to laboratories, including coordinating the removal of hazardous waste and wearing protective equipment as required.
• Assists with coverage for the chemistry laboratory manager
• Work collaboratively with others (e.g. colleagues, stakeholders, vendors) to accomplish functions and responsibilities
• Be able to follow both written and verbal instructions
• Setup and support lab exams
• Assume additional duties as assigned by immediate supervisor

• Associates degree from a regional accredited institution
• College coursework in biological sciences and chemistry
