Student ServicesGeneral Summary
The Licensed Professional Counselor is a full-time position within the division of Student Services & Enrollment Management. The LPC will promote student mental health awareness and wellness on campus through direct counseling, consultation, intervention, and training. The LPC will lead campus student wellness efforts as well as participate in campus initiatives related to student development and success, as needed.
Specific Position Duties
- Maintain a regular appointment schedule for student support.
- Provide assessment and mental health counseling services.
- Refer specific crisis issues to appropriate agencies and services.
- Provide short term personal counseling services for students and develop treatment plans.
- Develop outreach programs that provide preventive services and information to students.
- Respond to the training needs of faculty and staff on campus, as needed.
- Serve on the Behavior Intervention Team, and work in conjunction with the BIT chair.
- Promote campus wellness efforts.
- Maintain appropriate and confidential records.
- Respond to campus mental health emergencies and provide crisis counseling as needed (maintain limited on-call status to respond to the BIT team as needed).
- Act as the designated college mental health officer, working closely with OC Police Department and other personnel as appropriate.
- Serve in the Wrangler Food Pantry and Pantry Gardens with the Student Support team.
- Perform other duties as required and assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s degree in counseling, or related field.
- Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the State of Texas or Licensed Professional Intern (employment contingent to attainment of license).
- Experience with adult clients.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively interact with students.
- Excellent verbal/written communication skills.
- Knowledge of privacy practices including HIPAA and FERPA.
- Strong technical skills including Microsoft office suite, social networking tools, and online assessment.
Work Hours
Monday-Thursday: 8:00 AM-5:30 PM; Friday: 8:00 AM-1:00 PM Summer Hours: Monday-Thursday: 7:30AM-5:30 PM; Closed FridaysPosting Number
