Position Overview

C&S Companies is seeking an experienced Senior Project Engineer in the Buffalo, Rochester, or Syracuse, NY offices to support our growing railroad practice. You will be part of a team working on projects from conception through final design and construction. This position is diversified with opportunities to work in the office on the engineering design of railroad infrastructure and in the field with construction inspection/administration. You will work on a variety of designs and projects with the opportunity to learn and grow throughout your career at C&S.

Position Responsibilities

  • Ability to work with internal and external staff on an individual and team basis.
  • Ability to motivate and mentor junior staff.
  • Strong written and oral communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage all aspects of smaller projects or assigned tasks as part of a larger overall project.
  • Work with team in Client relationship management and obtaining additional business opportunities.
  • Ability to challenge oneself and broaden knowledge base.
  • Willingness to be proactive and anticipate.
  • May require occasional travel away from the office, estimated 15%.
  • Utilize safe work practices in accordance with federal, state, local, and company standards.
  • Communicate incidents, accidents, near misses, potential hazards, and unsafe working conditions to a supervisor or the Health and Safety Department as soon as identified.

Skills/Education/Experience

  • B.S. in Engineering field, M.S. in related Engineering field a plus.
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer (P.E.).
  • 10 or more years of railroad related design and construction experience.
  • Experience with preparation of contract documents from bidding though design and award.
  • Experience with AREMA Manual for Railway Engineering.
  • Experienced with Bentley MicroStation/InRoads and/or AutoDesk AutoCad/Civil 3D. Experience with Bentley OpenRoads is a plus.

Estimated Compensation Range: $85,000 - $110,000/year*

*Actual compensation may vary based on related work experience, geographical location and market conditions, education/training, certifications, and other credentials, as well as applicable knowledge and skills.

As an employee working on railroad related assignments with the need to occasionally visit railroad properties, you will be enrolled in our drug and alcohol testing program as mandated by the Federal Railroad Administration's (FRA) 49 CFR 219 Drug and Alcohol Testing Requirements Program. A Candidate's employment is contingent upon successful results of the test which will be covered and administered by C&S's provider.
