Job Title- PT TXCHSE (GED) TUTOR–LANGUAGE ARTS, SCIENCE, SOCIAL STUDIES, AND MATH (Pool)
Position Status- Part Time
Classification Title- Part-Time ADE-Up to 19 hpw
Work Location- Cogdell-201 W. Florida, Midland, TX
Job Summary- Tutors for the Texas Certificate of High School Equivalency (GED) will assist in instructing students in Midland College’s Adult Education Program.
Required Qualifications
- An earned High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Experience tutoring various subjects to include Science, English, Social Studies, and Math.
- Experience tutoring adult learners.
- Experience working in an educational setting.
Preferred Qualifications
- An earned Associate’s Degree or Higher from an accredited university.
- Experience in teaching adult students or high school students.
- Tutor students who have achieved varying levels of mastery in the subject matter area (Language Arts, Social Science, Science, and Math)
- Tutor students online, face-to-face, or a combination of the two modalities on a schedule as assigned by the TXCHSE (GED) Coordinator
- Communicate effectively and appropriately with students
- Report and interpret test results for individual students
- Provide tutoring and additional instructional support to students as necessary
- Attend required staff meetings
- Complete the required clock hours of professional development as assigned through the state training portal by the program’s Professional Development Coordinator
- Frequently moves equipment or paperwork weighing up to 20 pounds
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time
- Use of manual dexterity
Min Salary- $11.00/hr (High School or no degree); $13.00/hr (Associate's Degree)
Max Salary- $15.50/hr (Bachelor's Degree); $17.50/hr (Master's Degree or higher)
Pay Statement- Salary is commensurate with educational qualifications and experience.
