NC State Department of Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering (CCEE), seeks a postdoctoral researcher in the transportation area related to human-Autonomous Vehicle (AV) interactions. For questions regarding the position please contact Professor Danjue Chen (dchen33@ncsu.edu).
The postdoc training and mentoring will be in:
1. Helping to advance research in human-automation interaction.
2. Helping to establish in the professional community.
3. Helping to get familiar with writing proposals.
4. Helping & supervising in graduate & undergraduate students advising.
The research project will study how human users (as a driver or AV user) interact with AVs on the road to investigate a set of problems like (1) how human drivers decide whether to cooperate with AVs (e.g., to yield or not) and (2) how AV users decide whether to accept the cooperation from the algorithmic design? We are interested in learning the influential factors in such human-AV interactions, the decision-making process from the cognitive and/or behavioral economics perspective, and how to develop strategies to promote human-AV cooperation (e.g., via improved communication design, or nudging).
