Vaccine Protocol

Position Summary/Purpose of Position:

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering is seeking applications for Professional Track Faculty (PTK) for full-time positions at the Lecturer and Senior Lecturer appointments for the Bachelor of Science in Embedded Systems and the Internet of Things offered at the Universities at Shady Grove. Appointments to these ranks are typically one to three years and are renewable.

The BSESIOT is a 2+2 program, which admits students with an Associate’s degree in computer science, engineering, and other related STEM areas. It provides training for 62 credits in the junior and senior years leading to the Bachelor’s degree. The educational objective of the program is to provide students with a solid background in key emerging technologies of the “Internet of Things” (IoT), the ability to integrate devices into complete IoT systems, and an understanding of how IoT fits into the broader context of information and communications technologies. The curriculum is cross-cutting and takes critical topics in electrical and computer engineering, computer science, information technology, data analytics, and cloud services as foundations for emerging technologies. Graduates will be well versed in object-oriented and scripting languages, knowledgeable about the hardware and hardware descriptive languages, sensors, and communication systems. Students would have hands-on experience with real-world IoT applications, including security, cloud computing, and machine learning. Instruction is mostly in person at the newly constructed Biological and Engineering Sciences Building at the Universities at Shady Grove.

The Clark School at the University of Maryland serves as the catalyst for high-quality research, innovation, and learning, delivering on a promise that all graduates will leave ready to impact the Grand Challenges (e.g., energy, environment, security, and human health) of the 21st century. The Clark School is dedicated to leading and transforming the engineering discipline and profession, to accelerating entrepreneurship, and to transforming research and learning activities into new innovations that benefit millions.
