Job Description
POSTDOCTORAL ASSOCIATE IN SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT, Center for Transportation and Logistics (CTL), to work at the Omnichannel Distribution Strategies Lab and contribute to the team’s research in omnichannel distribution strategies and the Warehouse of the Future (WoF), which includes both research on warehousing operations and warehouse technology. Based on the digital transformation of warehouses due to the growth of e-commerce, the current focus of the lab is to develop a framework that can guide companies when evaluating state-of-the-art technology solutions that are being implemented in the WoF. This should consider multiple perspectives such as operational, economical, and risk factors among others. Will conduct top-tier research to a consistent output of research publications and citations, presentations at international conferences, and invited talks; and contribute to the public policy outreach and industry engagement initiatives of MIT CTL.
Job Requirements:REQUIRED: Ph.D. in industrial engineering, operations research, supply chain management, or a related discipline; and an understanding of quantitative (e.g., using statistical data gleaned from surveys, questionnaires, or historical data) and qualitative (e.g., observational data such as focus groups or interviews) methods. Must have a proven track record of producing high-quality academic publications in the area(s) of omnichannel distribution strategies, e-commerce logistics, and/or warehousing operations and technology. Those with a proven record in those specific fields and comprehensive research experience in other SCM core areas, including inventory management, transportation and logistics, process optimization, demand forecasting, or supply chain technology will also be considered. Ideal candidates will have demonstrated experience developing comprehensive frameworks from case studies and empirical research and would benefit from having demonstrated success working closely with industry partners.
