Job Description

20 – 29 Hours | 9 Months | Side Dishes/Server – Typical hours Monday through Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and Friday 8:30am to 1:15 p.m.
20 – 29 Hours | 9 Months | Production Support/Server/Floater/Relief – Typical hours Monday through Thursday, 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.- Position Summary
Provide high-quality food items and excellent customer service. Provide assistance in food preparation and service.
- Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve soups and chili, hot food items and side dishes, grill items, sandwiches, salads and condiments, and desserts following standards for portion control
- Maintain stock of items for service needs and prepare necessary foods for evening food service. Support and assist with additional stocking needs throughout department as assigned
- Monitor assigned station throughout service periods to assure that required food items are available to maximize service efficiency and minimize waste
- Keep all sundry items stocked
- Put delivered food and supplies on storage shelves in proper rotation FIFO
- Operate, clean, and sanitize kitchen machines and equipment including automatic meat slicer, mixers, steam equipment, deep fryer, ovens, grills, etc.
- Clean and organize own work stations and other kitchen areas as assigned
- Bake and portion/plate dessert items
- Support and assist with preparation of items for online orders and after hours “grab-n-go” needs
- Assist with food preparation, production, and service for special catering functions to the completion of service needs
- Friday afternoon clean up until all work is completed
- Provide list of inventory needs to Director as needed
- Assist with weekend catering functions as requested
- Provide coverage/relief for other positions, during breaks as well as in their absence when appropriately trained to perform those functions effectively
- Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and seminars as required
- Receive and check in deliveries in absence of Director of Food Services and/or Cook
- Prepare and produce food items needed for Children’s Learning Center lunch and snack menus
- Complete all cleaning assignments according to departmental procedures and regulatory agency requirements
- Perform required HACCP tracking reports daily, including food temperature logs, cooling temperature logs, etc., as assigned

- Work collaboratively with others (e.g. colleagues, stakeholders, vendors) to accomplish functions and responsibilities
- Assume additional duties as assigned by immediate supervisor
- Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- One year in related area
- Attain/maintain Illinois Food Service Sanitation Certification
- Attain/maintain Allergen and COVID-19 Awareness Certifications
